CHCA Junior High Boys and Girls Track & Field Teams Complete Historic Seasons; Win MVC Championship

The 2025 CHCA Junior High Boys and Girls Track & Field teams claimed the Miami Valley Conference (MVC) Championship following an outstanding performance at last Thursday's meet. Both teams secured top scores, with the boys tallying 127 points and the girls earning 122.

The girls' championship season was highlighted by two record-breaking relay performances. At the MVC Championship meet hosted at CHCA, Emma Peters, Janelle Idris, Madison Moran, and Bridget Krieger set a new school record in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 2:04.10. The 4x400 meter relay team of Bridget Krieger, Delaney Brunetti, Presley Peschke, and Addison Connor also made history, clocking in at 4:42.11 at the Monroe Invitational.

The boys team delivered a dominant season of their own, breaking an impressive seven school records. Zach Murphy set new school marks in the 100-meter dash (11.83) and 200-meter dash (15.51), while Timothy Kirk broke the 400-meter dash record with a time of 55.08 and set a new long jump record with a leap of 19 feet, 3 inches.

The Eagles also shattered three relay records. The 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay teams — comprised of Shep Layman, Zach Murphy, Lerois Harris, and Timothy Kirk — set new school records with times of 47.09 and 1:37.19, respectively. The 4x400 meter relay team of Max Loar, Noah Rosenfeldt, Timothy Kirk, and Shep Layman broke the school record at the Monroe Invitational with a time of 3:55.67.

The historic season for CHCA's Junior High Track & Field program isn't over yet. Two relay teams — comprised of Shep Layman, Zach Murphy, Lerois Harris, and Timothy Kirk, with Noah Rosenfeldt serving as the alternate — have qualified for the Junior High State Championships, which will take place at Hilliard Darby High School this Saturday, May 17!
