CHCA Varsity Baseball Clinches Outright MVC Title

The CHCA Varsity Baseball team secured the outright Miami Valley Conference (MVC) title with a thrilling 6–4 victory over Roger Bacon at Ross Park.

The championship was officially clinched in the continuation of a weather-delayed game originally played on May 8. Right before play was suspended in the top of the seventh inning, the Eagles trailed 4–2 with two outs and the bases loaded. Mason Herring stepped to the plate with two strikes and delivered a clutch grand slam, giving CHCA the lead — one they would not relinquish.

Despite graduating six seniors from the Class of 2024, the Eagles reloaded quickly, with six underclassmen stepping into key roles for the 2025 campaign. They have certainly answered the call. The 2024 Eagles lead the conference in runs scored, RBIs, and total hits, including doubles, triples, and home runs, and are second in the MVC in team batting average.

On the mound, senior Landon Ivy has been dominant, allowing just four home runs across 36 innings pitched. He boasts an impressive 0.771 ERA and has recorded 48 strikeouts. Offensively, juniors Ryan Bass and Jace Pittser lead the conference in RBIs, while Bass and Herring are tied for the conference lead in home runs.

Currently ranked 14th in the state, the MVC Champion Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in their region. They will open OHSAA tournament play against Wilmington High School on Wednesday, May 21, at 5:00 PM at CHCA's Robert Gardner Baseball Stadium.
